Colonic Hydrotherapy

Here is a brief insight into colonic hydrotherapy which is carried out by an experienced Registered Nurse trained in colonic hydrotherapy at our clinic. At all times we will endeavour to maintain your dignity and make you feel at ease during your consultation and treatment.

Most of us, for one reason or another, could benefit from a colonic hydrotherapy treatment . Either to relieve constipation caused by poor diet, a hectic lifestyle or medication. It can alleviate symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome such as bloating, sluggishness, flatulence and colicky pain, or help cleanse our bodies from toxins that accumulate with negative effects on our skin, hair and general well being.

Many clients enjoy the benefits prior to a holiday or special occasion, or well deserved detox after over indulgence. It is believed that it may aid the absorption of certain vitamins therefore some clients choose to have a colonic prior to embarking on a weight loss diet.

Overall clients report an improvement in their well being and energy levels. Although various forms of the treatment have been used for many years, it is becoming increasingly popular and not just with the rich and the famous.

Procedure

Modern colonic hydrotherapy machines utilize pre-sterilized, disposable equipment. These disposables are used only once during a single treatment. Properly administered, there is absolutely no danger of contamination.

A small tube called a speculum is inserted. This speculum is then attached to a plastic hose that connects to the colon irrigation machine. The nurse will then adjust the volume and temperature of the water that is used to irrigate the colon.

The client is temporarily filled with a certain volume of water to individual tolerance. This will induce peristaltic contractions in the colon and the patient will begin to expel waste matter through a special hose which leads back to the colon irrigation machine.

While the client is receiving the colon treatment, the nurse lightly massages various parts of the abdomen with the clients consent, to help loosen and dislodge areas of impacted waste.

Colon Hydrotherapy
Pre and Post Treatment Recommendations

It is recommended that 24-48 hours prior to your colon hydrotherapy session you consume fruits, vegetables and grains. Drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day will also assist in the cleaning process. On the day of the treatment eat lightly, such as vegetables, fruits and juices and limit your intake of water. If possible try to refrain from food or drinks within 2 hours of your treatment. After your treatment you may feel relaxed, due to the movement of the colon muscles. It is not uncommon to wait 2-3 days for a bowel movement after treatment. During this time you may have heightened sensitivities to what you eat. Consume plenty of water and refrain from eating gas producing foods.
